Letters from the Dead House

1986 - 1991

Artist Statement
This work began as straight images made in the morgue and later evolved to the sandwiching of images. “Letters…” is about ideas that a person takes with them in to death. Exchanges between the dead and the living have been a speculation in every culture. The dead speak in many ways, or, like going to the zoo and projecting on to the animals, the living hear the dead speaking. I was curious as to what a dead person might be thinking, remembering, what their theatre was, and these are my projections from that time.
