Artist Statement
A borderland is neither and both of what it separates. Texas and Mexico have a mythic status of place where big dreams and big disasters come true. I began falling into the borderland in 1986. Then any U.S. citizen could go out with the Border Patrol. I spent most of my border time with the U.S. Border Patrol and in the Boys Towns on the Mexican side, they seemed to balance each other out.
